Murder, counterfeit cash, and soccer games? “Good Girls” is an NBC television series about three mothers Beth, Annie, and Ruby who are struggling to make ends meet. Beth is the perfect wife and parent going out of her away to make sure her family has what they need. Dean her husband owns a used car dealership which leads the family into debt. Ruby is happily married but cannot afford to pay for the medical bills that she needs to help her daughter. Annie is a single mom who is going through a custody battle. The three feel powerless so they join forces to finally regain control in their lives financially. They begin by robbing a local grocery store and slowly progress to more dangerous territory. What they thought was a one-time job becomes something else entirely and the only way to get out of the mess is together.


The cast has many familiar faces some of which include Matthew Lillard, Retta, Mae Whitman, Christina Hendricks, Manny Montana, and Reno Wilson. Each of these actors brings something unique to the table making it more enjoyable to watch. “Good Girls” has been able to keep the story going without messing up storylines or becoming incredibly messy like other television shows that get stuck in a rut. The show is also very good at plot twists. Every time you think you know what’s going to happen next, they surprise you. Every season they are able to wrap up certain storylines but still leave anticipation for the next season.


On its 4th season “Good Girls” has gotten a huge cult following and a big chunk of the audience are women. The show promotes feminism and empowers its audience around the nation. With millions tuning in “Good Girls” has brought its network and its cast immense success. Many viewers relate to mothers just trying to get some control of their lives. “Good Girls” is paving the path to other “girl boss” shows that focus mainly on the women taking charge.


“Good Girls” airs on NBC every Sunday night at 10/9c. It is also streaming on Hulu. Each week the new episode airs on NBC and Hulu. This gives viewers that don’t have cable a chance to watch the episode live. Seasons 1-3 are also available on Hulu and other streaming services.
